Behind the Music
Tasha Becker is a percussionist, educator, songwriter and producer.
As a percussion performer, Tasha is passionate about contemporary works in both solo and chamber ensemble settings. She has performed in esteemed venues such as National Sawdust, Lincoln Center, the DiMenna Center, and Alchemical. She made her off-broadway debut at The Tank in July 2023 as a member of Village Verein. Based in NYC, Tasha is currently working to establish her unique musical voice as a solo and chamber ensemble performer.
As an educator, she enjoys teaching enthusiastic learners of all experience levels, focusing on great sound quality and musical exploration. She has taught private lessons at the middle school and high school levels as well as having coached percussion ensemble at the collegiate level.
Tasha has been working independently on her songwriting skills for over ten years and her music production skills for five years. She released her first album across all platforms in 2012 and three singles in 2017. Since then, she has worked on revamping her sound and released several samples throughout this process on Soundcloud. She aims to release an EP showcasing her new musical identity by the end of 2025.
Tasha received her Bachelor of Arts in Music focusing on Music Technology from Iowa State University and her Masters in Percussion Performance from The New School in New York City. She has studied with Ian Rosenbaum, Joseph Tompkins, James Baker, Kramer Milan, Jonathan Sharp, and Christopher Foster. Through masterclasses and workshops, she has learned from renowned percussionists including Leigh Howard Stevens, Sandbox Percussion, Michael Burritt, Bob Becker, and Ji Hye Jung.
